Shopping in Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges
This is curios and collectibles country. Walk down any of the main streets and you’ll find antique shops filled with furniture, gleaming silverware, china, paintings, and ornate mirrors. And wherever you find antiques, you often find second-hand bookshops – some with cafés.
Contemporary homewares and decorative handcrafted wares also feature in the region. And being spa country – the home of mineral waters, mineral baths and masseurs – you’ll find everything for the bath and the body, including perfumed salts, pure vegetable oil soaps, bombs and bubbles, floating candles, scented candles, flower essences, natural cosmetics, and hair and skin treatments.
Daylesford has a wonderful collection of book, antique and aromatherapy shops. Don’t miss the Lake Daylesford Book Barn and the Avant Garden Bookshop. Kyneton’s Piper Street is also renowned for its antiques and has other highlights such as the Provender Book Shop Café and the Kyneton Fine China shop, renowned for its handcrafted ceramics. Nearby Woodend also has a number interesting shops, including Cottage Courtyards, Wallwood and the Literary Latte, which is a great place to browse books while sipping on a latte. There are also a number of other small towns with a selection of antique shops worth exploring including Gisborne, Kilmore and Lancefield with its three storey Macedonia antique centre.
